In its simplest form, a brand or logo is a symbol designed to demonstrate what a company does, whilst differentiating it from other companies who do the same thing.
It is typically the first impression your company will have on a customer or client. Often a customer sees it before they experience your company in any capacity, so it is important that it gives a strong, immediate and accurate impression. This doesn’t mean it needs to be a complex advertisement of your services, but it does need to effectively represent your company’s personality, values and focus. If your brand does this well then your customer is more likely to connect with it and the services/products you offer.
But branding doesn’t stop with your logo. Your ‘brand’ needs to run through all aspects of your business, including literature, online, signage, even down to the way you answer the phone and deal with your customers on any given day.
