Harris Associates’ design team enjoyed a taste of life in the fast lane recently after it created a string of promotional material for a client’s colourful weekend at the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) at Brands Hatch.
Leading trade paint brand Leyland reaped huge benefits from sponsoring BTCC team Airwaves BMW this season, but the company’s marketing experts wanted to make an almighty splash at the final weekend of the season as it rolled out its eye-catching ‘Mad About Colour’ campaign.
With the speed of Lewis Hamilton and the attention to detail of Michael Schumacher, Harris’ designers wasted little time in creating three memorable designs for the roofs of three of the team’s cars, as well as a competition flyer.
Design director and self-confessed adrenaline junkie Neil Craven relished sinking his teeth into the project, saying:
“From the outset this was an exciting challenge that gave us the opportunity to propose some visually arresting imagery. The designs for the car roofs were bold and carried an immediate impact – ideal when they were hurtling around the track at speeds of up to 150mph! More importantly, however, they tied in with Leyland’s ‘Mad About Colour’ campaign and helped create a positive brand identity. An eye-catching flyer and a design for the buckets to collect entries also helped reinforce the theme that was ever present across the weekend.”
